Power of Pink Luncheon 2024

This year’s Power of Pink Luncheon benefiting the Margie Petersen Breast Center on September 29 was a huge success! Together, we raised over $400,000 to fund Providence Saint John’s Health Center’s breast surgical oncology fellowship, research, and supportive services for patients and survivors.

The event honored Sara Rutenberg with the Ruth Weil Spirit of Hope Award.

Sara is a business affairs executive and attorney with over 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry. Outside the office, she serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services. Quite notably, Sara is a survivor and is proud to share her story of gratitude to the Margie Petersen Breast Center at Saint John’s and its director, Janie Grumley, MD, FACS.

The inaugural Advocacy for Women’s Health and Wellness Award was given to Melvin Jerome Silverstein, MD, FACS.

Dr. Silverstein is a world-renowned breast cancer surgeon who pioneered oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery in the United States. He is Professor Emeritus in Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. He is the Gross Family Foundation Chair in Oncoplastic Surgery and Director Emeritus of the Hoag Breast Program at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach. He has mentored countless breast oncology surgeons, including Dr. Grumley, and has advanced breast cancer treatment for women worldwide.
